2008 SHOW CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS

The last Country Fayre was held at Trellech in 2000, since then although reduced in size the Trellech Country Fayre continues to go from strength to strength.  The major event of last year was Septembers Horse and Companion Dog Show.  Good weather brought an excellent turnout and the standard of competition was generally high.  Entries in 2007 were up on the previous year, once again.

Trellech Country Fayre Horse and Companion Dog Show was held at Church Farm, Trellech on 16th September 2007 by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Prichard.  The support of Mr & Mrs Prichard is key to the running of the event and Church Farm provides an ideal venue.  The organising committee extend not only their thanks but also the thanks of all those who attended to Mr & Mrs Prichard.

The aim of the show is to ensure a good day out for horses and riders along with the many dog owners who travel from far and wide to this well established “traditional” event.  The show is organised entirely by volunteers and all surplus funds are donated to local good causes.

Grateful thanks are also due to the many local businesses and individuals who provided assistance and sponsored many of the classes.  The aim of the show is to ensure a good day out for horses and riders but also to raise money for local good causes including the long standing Seniors Christmas Dinner.

Other events during the year included two traditional Christmas events: the pensioner’s evening and carols outside The Lion Inn on Christmas Eve.  The pensioner’s evening is organised, staffed and cooked by the Country Fayre committee, and is held every year at the Babbington Centre.  The evening was attended by 30 or so members of the Trellech community, and certainly marks the start of Christmas celebrations for all involved.

The traditional Carols outside The Lion Inn event was also attended, with Father Christmas taking time out of his busy schedule to call in.  Presents were given to all the children present, be they 6 months, or 60 years old.  The Carol evening attracted a donation of £50, which was given to Ty Hafan, The Children’s Hospice in Wales.

So far this year, Trellech Country Fayre has been busy once again, with a social evening held in February at The Somerset Arms for all volunteers, sponsors and Committee members.  The Somerset Arms provided an excellent venue for a great night out, and a timely thank you for the efforts of our loyal band of volunteers.

This years Horse and Companion Dog Show has been organised for the 21st of September 2008.  Once again, our thanks go to Mr and Mrs Prichard for the use of the excellent site at Church Farm.  Details for the Show can be found on our website at www.trellech.org.uk.  The schedule for the coming show can be found there, as well as details on how to find us, and a few photographs of previous shows.

The Committee are always keen to hear from anyone willing to come and give a few hours of their time to ensure the Show runs smoothly.  If local business or individuals would be willing to sponsor classes, donate prizes or place advertisements in our schedule, we would also be more than happy to accommodate you.  For more details, please contact the Secretary, Rosemary Howell on 01600 860106.

The organising committee of the Trellech Country Fayre would like to thank all those who supported the various TCF events of 2007/8 and looks forward to continued support in the coming year..
